Group Organizes Business Leaders to Stand for Religious Freedom in Light of Indiana and Arkansas Controversies
(Raleigh, NC, April 2, 2015) Faith Driven Consumer™ — the organization representing 41 million Christian consumers who spend $2 trillion annually, has earned national recognition for its successful efforts advocating for tolerance and equality for people of faith. The group's #IStandWithPhil campaign led the grassroots movement returning Phil Robertson to Duck Dynasty, its #FlipThisDecision campaign compelled SunTrust Bank to reverse a decision to fire the Benham brothers, and its #HoustonWeHaveAProblem effort resulted in fair and equal treatment for a group of Houston pastors. Faith Driven Consumer has now turned to Indiana and Arkansas with a new campaign called www.AddUs.In.
“Whether they fully understand it or not, folks such as Tim Cook, Charles Barkley, and Marc Benioff are clearly demanding marketplace protection for the LGBT community, all while denying the same protections to Faith Driven Consumers and business owners,” said Chris Stone, Founder of Faith Driven Consumer.
“As Christians and Faith Driven Consumers, God calls on us to love everyone. We are not called to embrace all ideas or actions. We love our fellow citizens without reservation, even when, as Christian business owners, we decline to participate in the celebration of activities that violate our deeply held religious beliefs and conscience. And, we should have the freedom to do so without fear of prosecution and persecution—just like those who currently enjoy such protections are able to opt out of Christian activities."
After releasing a statement on Monday in response to the controversy over the Hoosier state’s passage of religious freedom legislation — in which founder Chris Stone argued that people of faith have a seat at the table, and should not be excluded and discriminated against for their views — the group has launched www.AddUs.In. The campaign is rallying business leaders around the nation to also support the rights of Christians and faith-friendly businesses. The message: AddUs.In to the marketplace rainbow of diversity with the same protections as all other groups.
www.AddUs.In calls on business leaders to sign up, to join the campaign, and to post a Plus Sign sticker prominently in their business place. The Plus Sign sticker signifies the desire of Faith Driven Consumers and business owners to be added in as part of America's rainbow of diversity with all the protections that it affords. Faith Driven Consumer believes that this is the kind of positive solution that can emerge from this controversy, and will aggressively reach out to all reasonable people who are interested in making everyone in America welcome.
