FDC and #IStandWithPhil
In 2013, FDC launched #IStandWithPhil, a petition and social media campaign that showed support for Phil Robertson, star of Duck Dynasty, after he was removed from his family’s A&E show following remarks Robertson made in a GQ profile.
FDC organized a petition that garnered over 250,000 signatures, demanding Phil’s reinstatement to the show. The voices of Faith Driven Consumers prevailed—Phil was reinstated. The petition argued that while anyone had the right to disagree with his comments, Robertson had the right to express his deeply held biblical based beliefs in a public forum, any other reality effectively censors a legitimate and legally protected viewpoint held by millions of Americans.
Following the campaign, A&E allowed Robertson back on the show.
Since then, FDC has run multiple social media campaigns in support of various Christian conservative causes, including wrongfully terminated Atlanta fire chief Kelvin Cochran following distribution of his self-penned religious book, and the support for craft retail seller Hobby Lobby in its Supreme Court case. These instances, and others, demonstrate the power of our voices, spending and labor—impacting change in the marketplace and workplace.
